New Book Recommendation Thread
Seems to have been a while since we had one and I need some new reads.

I will start off - The Cormoran Strike novels (3 so far) by Robert Galbraith (J K Rowling) Good characters and stories, even manages to set some scenes in Canning Town!

If you like them, then try My wicked wicked ways, Errol Flynns autobiography. One of my favourite books. Funny as fuck, especially a story about some Geese and piece of string.

If you like good autobiographies I thoroughly recommend Michael Caine's "The Elephant to Hollywood" and Roger Moore's "Last Man Standing: Tales from Tinseltown". Both absolutely brilliant and it was a shame when I finished them because they were that good.

Agreed, bruuuno. It is genuinely shocking but at the same time gripping in a 'can these fuckers really be doing this' kind of way.

I found Stalingrad harrowing.

Chickenhawk, by a US Huey pilot in Vietnam is the only book to have kept me awake at night, very graphic

Excellent stuff by Beevor. His Second World War is as good a synopsis of WW2 as anything out there.

It's not new, but I'm re-reading 'Stalingrad', by Anthony Beevor. Stunning history of perhaps the most important battle of WWII. Even if you're not into history books, it reads almost like a novel.

The Riddle of the Sands: 1903 by Erskine Childers.

A right ripping yarn, for those who like boats, the North Sea sea mists and dastardly plots against the Empire the pesky Germans.

Any book where the hero is called Caruthers, gets my vote

I've just finished reading Farewell to Upton Park - a selection of photos of the stadium and surrounding area, in particular from the final game. Very enjoyable and actually quite emotional.
